Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), India’s leading forging and advanced engineering group, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Windracers Limited, the UK-based manufacturer of the world-renowned dual-use heavy-lift drone, ULTRA. The MoU, inked at DSEI UK 2025 in London, marks a significant step in advancing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology and aerospace innovation in India.

Under this collaboration, Bharat Forge and Windracers will work on the deployment, localisation, and application of Windracers ULTRA UAV across India. The partnership aligns with the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and supports the India-UK Vision 2035 initiative, fostering technology transfer, joint trials, and strategic aerospace development over an initial two-year term.

The ULTRA UAV is designed for multi-mission operations and has demonstrated remarkable resilience and reliability in global missions, including Antarctic research support. In India, ULTRA is expected to play a key role in Carrier On Board Delivery (COD) for the Indian Navy, critical logistics for the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, and various other operational requirements across challenging terrains.

With proprietary mission control and autopilot systems, ULTRA is capable of endurance missions lasting six to seven hours and can operate efficiently in India’s diverse environments—from oceanic and island regions to high-altitude Himalayan terrain and the remote Northeast.
