SPML Infra, one of India’s leading water infrastructure companies, has been awarded a project worth ₹1,073 crore, including GST, by the Indore Municipal Corporation for the augmentation of the city’s water supply system under the AMRUT 2.0 programme. The government’s flagship mission is aimed at making Indian cities water secure and self-reliant, and this project marks a major step forward in strengthening Indore’s urban infrastructure.
The contract covers not just the development of new infrastructure but also includes a comprehensive ten-year operations and maintenance agreement to ensure long-term efficiency. Once completed, the project will provide reliable access to safe drinking water for more than two million residents of Indore.
The scope of work includes the construction of a 1,650 MLD raw water intake system with a state-of-the-art pump house, a 400 MLD water treatment plant equipped with advanced technology to meet strict quality standards, as well as the development of transmission systems supported by clear water booster pumping stations and over 22 kilometres of large-diameter pipelines. To ensure smooth functioning, an integrated 132/33 kV electric substation will also be established as part of the project.
The engineering, procurement, and construction portion of the contract has a completion timeline of 30 months, including the monsoon seasons, after which SPML Infra will continue to manage and maintain the system for the next decade.
