Kalyani Powertrain, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has entered into a technology licensing agreement with Taiwan-based Compal Electronics to manufacture X86 platform servers in India. This collaboration aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative and aims to boost domestic manufacturing of high-performance computing solutions.
As part of the partnership, Compal Electronics will provide Kalyani Powertrain with technological support, including overseeing local production, assembly, testing, and final sales of the servers. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a locally manufactured server business in India.
Bharat Forge Vice Chairman & Joint Managing Director, Amit Kalyani, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that it would enhance India’s manufacturing competitiveness and encourage technological advancements. Tony Bonadero, CEO of Compal, highlighted that the collaboration will create synergy between the two companies and open up more business opportunities in AI, cloud computing, and data centers.
Additionally, Kalyani Powertrain announced the launch of its “Made in India” servers from its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. The company expects this initiative to stimulate local businesses, attract investments, and contribute significantly to India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
This partnership is seen as a crucial step in advancing India’s AI, cloud, and data center ecosystem. The collaboration aims to reduce reliance on imported servers and provide cost-efficient, high-performance solutions tailored for enterprises, cloud providers, hyperscalers, and government organizations.
