On Wednesday, another round of diplomatic talks between India and China took place amid a war of words on the perception of the LAC, the de-facto Sino-India border spanning a length of nearly 3,500 km. The virtual talks were held under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on border affairs.

The talks focused on implementing the five-point agreement between the two sides to resolve nearly five-month-long border standoff in eastern Ladakh. The five-point agreement that encompasses measures like quick disengagement of troops, avoiding action that can escalate tensions, adherence to all agreements and protocols on border management and steps to restore peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). They also reviewed the current situation at the border.

The Ministry of External Affair on Sino-India border talks said, “Two sides positively evaluated the outcome of sixth round of military talks.”

“Both sides agreed that next round of senior commanders’ meeting should be held at an early date,” the Ministry of External Affair further added.

On September 21, the Indian and Chinese military commanders held the sixth round of talks to resolve the military standoff in eastern Ladakh. Next day, the two sides said they have agreed to “stop sending more troops to the frontline and refrain from unilaterally changing the situation on the ground”.
