In the month of July, US employers advertised more jobs but recruited fewer workers, sending mixed signals about the job market amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The number of U.S. job postings on the last day of July increased to 6.6 million from 6 million at the end of June, the Labour Department said.
Hiring witnessed a dramatic fall to 5.8 million from 7 million in June. The number of Americans laid off decreased to 1.7 million from approximately 2 million in June.
Meanwhile, the US has now recorded 6,522,321 total cases, with 194,405 deaths, making it by far the worst-hit country in the world.
