Recently, a comedian on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent mocked Deepika Padukone for her depression and motherhood. The mockery did not go down well with the netizens and the fans of the actress.

Amidst that, Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend Somy Ali has come out in support of Deepika, as she lauded the diva for speaking out in public about her depression. Somy also appreciated the way Aamir Khan admitted onto taking therapy sessions with his daughter, Ira Khan. The Pakistani actress shared labelled this as progress and said that if this would have happened years ago, Parveen Babi would still be alive.

“I have been advocating for years that anyone with a platform should openly discuss mental health. When Deepika Padukone spoke about her struggles on a public forum, it was a groundbreaking moment- not just for the industry, but for the world. However… she was mocked by some, labelled as someone seeking publicity, and not taken seriously,” she stated during a conversation with ANI.

She continued, “Despite the backlash, Deepika should be celebrated… not just for speaking out but for creating a mental health foundation.”

Somy concluded by saying that every person should have therapy session at least once a week.
