The legendary music composer AR Rahman has announced separation from his wife Saira Banu after nearly completing three decades together which has turned attention towards his staggering net worth.
Rahman is India’s most influential music composer and the highest earning musician of the country.
As reported by DNA India, the musician’s net worth stands somewhere between Rs. 1,728 crore to Rs. 2,000 crore. He is also the country’s richest male singer charging fees of Rs. 3 crore for each song.
His wealth is generated by scoring films, creating his own music and even live concert tours across the world, endorsements and other entrepreneurial ventures, giving him the number 1 position in the list of richest musicians of the country.
The Oscar winning composer is also amongst the most awarded musicians with accolades including awards like National Film Awards, Academy Awards, Grammy Awards and a Padma Bhushan.
With Rahman’s current divorce with Saira, it is still yet to see if it will be one of the most expensive divorces in the entertainment industry.
Meanwhile, Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, has released an official statement regarding the divorce. The statement read, “After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other , the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them , one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time.”
