In the latest development, following Sachin Pilot’s rebellion against the Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, where he was the Deputy Chief Minister, Sachin Pilot has been asked by the party to campaign for the Madhya Pradesh by-elections in 28 assembly segments. Pilot will have to campaign against his friend and former colleague Jyotiraditya Scindia who had walked away from Congress in March this year with 22 other MLAs bringing down the Kamal Nath government after 15 months of its rule. The by-polls are expected to be held in late October as the defection of three Congress MLAs and death of three sitting MLAs have necessitated the election.
According to Mumbai Mirror, Sachin Pilot said, “Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Kamal Nath Ji has asked me to campaign in MP by-polls. I shall certainly do it. As a loyal Congress soldier, I am duty-bound to chip in whenever and wherever I can. MP is familiar territory for me as many assembly constituencies going to polls are close to Rajasthan.”
