Gilad Erdan, the Israeli ambassador to the UN, has slammed billionaire activist George Soros for donating $15 million to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that back the terrorist organisation Hamas.

Soros has been funding organisations that want to destroy Israel; Ambassador Erdan called this shameful. Furthermore, he also accused Soros of funding organisations that support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which aim to isolate Israel, with billions of dollars.

Erdan claimed that these Soros-funded organisations have no real interest in bringing about peace or resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The German and Austrian parliaments have condemned the BDS campaign, which is directed against the Jewish state, to be antisemitic. Hamas has been classified as a foreign terrorist organisation by the US and the EU.

Soros has given more than $15 million to anti-Israel organisations that back Hamas’ cause through his Open Society Foundations (OSF). The Adalah Justice Project’s supporter, the Tides Center in California, received $13.7 million from the OSF. This project came under fire when it shared an Instagram photo of a bulldozer tearing down Israel’s security fence the day after a violent Hamas event.

The Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), an NGO that accused Israel of inciting violence in the area, was also funded by the OSF. The JVP asserted that the Israeli apartheid and occupation was the main cause of all this violence and that the United States was participating in the persecution.

JVP is said to have received at least $650,000 from Soros’s OSF since 2017. Erdan contended that OSF backs dubious Jewish NGOs, using their Jewish heritage to incite criticism of Israel.
