As the monsoon steps forward, most parts of India are expected to receive rainfall in the coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts extremely heavy showers in the parts of coastal Karnataka.

Parts of Maharashtra, Goa, and Konkan are likely to receive heavy showers tomorrow, informs the weather department.

Rainfall activity is expected to increase in Uttar Pradesh, where the IMD has forecast fairly widespread rainfall along with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in few parts between July 17 to July 20. Isolated heavy showers are also predicted by IMD in Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Jammu tomorrow.

While on the other side, northeastern states are assumed to receive widespread rains coupled with isolated heavy falls till July 19, after which the rainfall activity might decrease. IMD predicted that the states of West Bengal and Sikkim will receive heavy rain today.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s weather bulletin, fairly widespread showers have been expected on the west coast while extremely heavy showers are likely to be in parts of coastal Karnataka today.

In the states, namely Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan, and North Madhya Pradesh rainfall activities are likely to increase along with fairly widespread to widespread showers from July 18 to July 20, as per IMD.

In the coming five days, isolated places in Telangana and Kerala are expected to witness thunderstorms along with lightning and gusty winds predict IMD.

Pune in Maharashtra will experience partly cloudy sky conditions in Saturday afternoon hours. According to IMD’s forecast, the city is likely to see moderate intensity rain, whereas isolated heavy spells might strike the ghat areas during the day.

In the past 24 hours as of 8:30 am on Saturday, Shivajinagar records 3.1 mm of rainfall following Lohegaon and Pashan  2mm and 0.8mm respectively.

In Mumbai, several parts of the city received rainfall in the early morning hours. The Indian Meteorological Department, Mumbai predicts heavy to heavy rainfall coupled with strong winds throughout the day.

In the past 24 hours, till Saturday 8:30 am, the city recorded 33.79mm rainfall, the eastern suburb witnessed 56.26mm and the western suburb received 52.35mm rainfall.
