Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday claimed that his country possesses evidence that China has been aiding Russia militarily, alleging that artillery and gunpowder have been supplied to support Moscow’s ongoing war efforts. Zelensky made the statement during a press briefing, signaling a potential escalation in international scrutiny over Beijing’s role in the conflict.
The claim comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts between Kyiv and Washington. Earlier in the day, Zelensky noted that Ukraine and the United States were close to signing a deal allowing American access to Ukraine’s minerals and rare earth elements. This follows a period of strained talks after Zelensky walked out of a previous White House meeting over disagreements with President Donald Trump on conflict resolution strategies.
While Zelensky recently characterized the revived talks as “positive,” he also sharply criticized U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, accusing him of spreading Russian propaganda—despite earlier support for a ceasefire proposal backed by Washington.
More updates on the China-Russia evidence are expected soon.
