
On Monday, March 21, a China Eastern Boeing 737-800 flight crashed in the southern part of Guanxi, China. Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his grief over the incident.
The flight was carrying 132 people on board. “We are shocked to learn of the China Eastern MU5735 accident,” said Xi as per CCTV. The president had ordered immediate rescue efforts & investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
Authorities have been instructed to spare no efforts in the rescue of the survivors & provide comfort to the family of the victims. As per the media reports, there are no survivors to be found. “The aircraft had lost contact over the city of Wuzhou,” said China’s Civil Aviation Administration. The flight had departed from Kunming & was scheduled to land at Guangzhou airport.
The 737-800 aircraft model has a good safety record. The investigators are looking for the two black boxes i.e. the flight data recorder & cockpit voice recorder to find out the cause of the crash.
