Colombo, Jan 14 : Sri Lanka plans to increase the number of airport security personnel up to 1,325, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation said in a press release on Sunday.
Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva said in the press release that currently there are 1,120 security personnel employed by the Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka.
The minister said that the government wants to enhance security at all airports.
He said they have installed the latest security and safety surveillance equipment at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The minister said these measures would deter the smuggling of drugs and other prohibited goods through the airport.
