The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on April 18, 2026, that the overall death toll from Israeli military operations since October 7, 2023, has climbed to 72,549, with 172,274 people wounded.

In the past 24 hours, health authorities received eight bodies seven newly killed and one recovered from under rubble along with 24 wounded individuals. Rescue teams continue to struggle to reach victims trapped under debris or in areas made inaccessible by ongoing destruction and attacks.

Post-Ceasefire Casualties

Since the US-brokered ceasefire took effect on October 10–11, 2025, at least 773 Palestinians have been killed and 2,171 wounded in Israeli attacks across Gaza. During this period, rescue teams have recovered 761 bodies from beneath destroyed buildings.

The ministry noted that many more victims remain unaccounted for under rubble or in zones too dangerous for emergency crews to access. Recently, 196 additional victims were added to the official toll after verification by the Martyrs Approval Committee.

These latest figures highlight the persistent violence in Gaza even after the ceasefire agreement. Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that the true scale of casualties is likely higher due to challenges in documentation and limited access to affected areas.

The situation remains highly volatile, with both sides continuing to accuse each other of ceasefire violations while civilian casualties mount.
