The Defence Minister of Russia Sergei Shoigu got a shot of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine ‘Sputnik V’, reported Sputnik News. He is the lastest in the slew of ministers who got inoculated with the vaccine. Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Russian Trade Minister Denis Manturov are the others.
Russia had approved the two-shot vaccine for domestic use in August, prior to the results of the large scale vaccine trial. President Putin’s daughter had also got the shot in August. Russia had announced the vaccine on August 11, which was met with scepticism from scientists.
The Lancet Medical Journal on Friday published that the vaccine produced an antibody response in all participants in early-stage trials and showed 100% of participants developing antibodies to the virus and no serious side effects in response to the criticism.
