On Tuesday, March 29, the Chief Executive Officer of Google & Alphabet, Sundar Pichai met with Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw. He discussed how the company can help the people of Ukraine.
“We are also working to make sure that trustworthy and helpful information gets to people through our products,” said Pichai stating that only reliable information is out on the internet. Information regarding air raids alerts, humanitarian corridors have been highlighted more.
Several countries have urged the big IT companies to curb the false information about the Russia-Ukraine war. Google has donated $35 million as humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Pichai further stated that Russian funded media agencies have been blocked. “We are also blocking channels and apps associated with Russia’s state-funded media,” said Google’s CEO.
Poland’s PM Mateusz Morawiecki expressed his thanks to Pichai for his critical role in spreading the truth at the time of war. “Russia is moving from autocracy to the totalitarian regime where the propaganda is so important,” said Poland’s PM.
