On the invitation of H.E. Mr. Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will go to Johannesburg, South Africa, from August 22–24, 2023 to attend the 15th BRICS Summit. After 2019, this will mark the return of the BRICS Summit in person. The summit will give participants the chance to assess the status of the group’s projects and determine potential new areas of focus.
After the BRICS Summit, a special gathering called “BRICS – Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue” will be held, to which South Africa has invited other nations. The prime minister will also take part in this gathering. A few of the leaders present in Johannesburg will be the subject of bilateral meetings the Prime Minister will have during his visit. In response to the request of H.E. Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, the Prime Minister will undertake an official visit to Greece on August 25, 2023, following his tour to South Africa. A prime minister from India hasn’t visited Greece in forty years, but that will change this time.
With collaboration in areas including sea transport, defense, trade, investments, and people-to-people ties, India and Greece have strong civilizational links that have become stronger in recent years. To discuss how to further strengthen the relationship, the prime minister will meet with prime minister Mitsotakis. Along with the Indian community in Greece, he will also connect with business executives from both nations.
