Norway: Violent clashes break out at anti-Islam rally

In Oslo, an anti-Islam protester ripped pages from the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, triggering violent clashes.

After the violent anti-Islam protests in Sweden, its fire has now spread to Norway as well, when an anti-Islam protester ripped pages from the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, in the Norwegian capital of Oslo on Saturday.

The rally was organized by the far-right organization ‘Stop Islamization of Norway’ (SIAN).

Hundreds of counter-protesters also gathered, banging drums and chanting “No racists in our streets,” news agency DPA reported.

However, police used tear gas to keep rival groups separated, arresting around 30 people.
