Prince Harry’s book, ‘Spare,’ is slated to be released on January 10. According to The Guardian, the Duke of Sussex revealed in his memoir that his brother William physically assaulted him.
In the book, Charles recounts an incident in which his brother William, now the Prince of Wales, physically beat him after a disagreement about the former’s marriage, American actress Meghan Markle, according to Page Six, citing The Guardian.
According to passages received by the news site, William described Meghan as “difficult”, “rude”, and “aggressive”. Harry felt it was a “parrot(ing) of the journalistic narrative” about Meghan.
When William “grabbed Harry by the collar,” the battle erupted.
“It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” Prince Harry shared.
Harry claimed he suffered a visible back injury as a result of the purported altercation.
The latest developments in the brothers’ difficult relationship come as their father, King Charles, prepares for his coronation in May, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September at the age of 96.
Since Harry and Markle left their royal duties and moved to California in 2020, their relationship has been strained.
The schism erupted in 2021, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared on Oprah Winfrey in a shocking interview in which Harry said that his brother and father, King Charles III, were trapped in their roles.
In a Netflix docuseries this month exploring the reasons behind their stunning 2020 departure for North America, Harry and Meghan, 41, opened up about their experiences with the British royal family.
They attributed most of their dissatisfaction in it on racist media reports and tabloid pestering, some of which they allege the family initiated.
