While the number of people affected by the Coronavirus keeps mounting every day, China celebrated 22-days of not reporting a single case in a pompous ceremony in which Chinese President Xi Jinping awarded medals to citizens who played critical parts in China’s battle against the virus.

At the ceremony, President Jinping gave a 70-minute long speech. what is making headlines is the digs he took at United States President Donald Trump. He also went on to compare China’s response to the pandemic with USA’s.

In his speech, President Jinping said, “The CCP’s strong leadership is the most reliable backbone when a storm hits. The pandemic once again proves the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics.” Taking a dig at the U.S.A., he said, “Those who care only about themselves, shift blame to others, confuse right and wrong and mix black and white, will not only cause harm to their countries and people but also to the people of all countries in the world.”
The criticism of President Trump did not go down lightly. As a response, President Trump said, “We’ll prohibit federal contracts from companies that outsource to China and we’ll hold China accountable for allowing the virus to spread around the world.”
