The sci-fi hecklers, 3 Body Season Two’s filming is done, and due to be back on…. 2026…but will not premiere in May 2026!
While Netflix confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel would be back during their related press event via their “What’s Next” showcase [for Season Two, due out in 2026], the final filming took place in Budapest this past January, and plenty of additional Visual Effects, Scoring, and Post-Production still need to be completed. Given how cinematic and visually complicated the scale of the universe is, industry insiders are reporting that late November or December 2026 seems to be the most likely premiere time frame.
Each of Season One’s eight Episodes of 3 Body required tremendous amounts of CGI for Little Nanofiber Cuts, Complex Alien Worlds, and Various Virtual Reality (VR) Sequences. Now that Season Two has been cut to only six total Episodes, fewer total CGI Elements means even greater time and work is still needed to complete. A premiere in May would create impossible deadlines.
There has been much speculation around what will happen with the new season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” ever since the cast wrapped filming and released a teaser video for their wrap party as part of the Ben Wong DJ set celebrations, yet Netflix has chosen to avoid any type of spring programming. Still officially confirmed are Miguel Sapochnik joining as Director and Jeremy Podeswa entering the cast, and the stakes get even higher as humanity is preparing in various forms, both offline and online. To that end…
NO LONGER AN OPTION! We expect a big announcement later this summer, and you’d better have your VR headset fully charged…. In the meantime, be sure to catch up on Season One, the universe isn’t going to wait… but your subscription will.
