Tron: Ares, the latest movie in the Tron series, has been in theaters for three weeks. So far, it has earned $125.4 million worldwide. That puts it in the top 30 highest-grossing films of 2025, but it’s still far from its reported $180 million production budget. The film’s mixed reviews, with a 53% score on Rotten Tomatoes, haven’t helped its box office momentum.
Despite that, Tron: Ares has beaten the total earnings of several popular films. It is now approaching the global total of the 2011 sci-fi hit Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, which made $161.9 million worldwide. Tron: Ares is currently trailing Limitless by about $36.5 million, making it unlikely to catch up during its theatrical run.
Among 2025 releases, Tron: Ares is just behind Mickey 17, which has earned $133.3 million globally. With its current pace, it may surpass Mickey 17 before leaving theaters.
The film is set fifteen years after Tron: Legacy and follows a powerful digital Program named Ares, who is brought into the real world for a dangerous mission. The cast includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, and Jodie Turner-Smith.
