Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson, known for their HGTV show “Married to Real Estate,” had diverse careers before becoming popular hosts in the home renovation and real estate industry.

Egypt Sherrod initially worked as a receptionist at a radio station, where her lively personality caught the attention of producers. Despite not intending to become a radio host, she was encouraged to audition for a slot and started her radio career at 18 years old. Alongside her radio work, Sherrod developed an interest in real estate and started investing in properties early on. Over 20 years, she combined her passion for property and real estate, eventually transitioning into the world of real estate professionally, which ultimately led her to HGTV.

Mike Jackson, also known as DJ Fadelf, had a successful career as a professional DJ before his involvement in home renovation and real estate. He traveled globally for performances and was part of a singing group with his cousins. Despite his entertainment career, Jackson had construction in his background—his grandfather and uncle owned a construction company. Even during his DJing days, Jackson continued working in construction, often juggling nightclub performances and construction sites. His experience in construction, combined with his relationship with Sherrod in real estate, laid the foundation for their venture into the renovation and real estate business.

Both Sherrod and Jackson brought diverse experiences from their past careers in radio hosting and DJing, as well as their early exposure to real estate and construction, which have contributed to their success in the world of home renovation and real estate on HGTV.
