The Denver Broncos no longer have questions at quarterback. After years of searching, they finally found stability with Bo Nix.
Nix was not the flashiest name in the 2024 NFL Draft. He did not carry the hype of Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels. He did not have the raw buzz around Drake Maye. What he had was consistency.
That has mattered more than anything.
Nix is the only quarterback from his draft class to reach the playoffs in each of his first 2 seasons. His second year looked almost identical to his rookie season. Same calm presence. Same steady numbers. Very few mistakes.
That approach has worked perfectly for Sean Payton.
Behind Nix, the Broncos built a tough defense and played clean football. The result was the AFC’s top seed. Denver did not need fireworks at quarterback. They needed control. Nix gave them exactly that.
As long as he keeps playing this way, the job is his.
Right behind him on the depth chart is Jarrett Stidham. He has been with the team since 2023. He stepped in late that season when Russell Wilson was benched. Since then, he has accepted a backup role without any issues.
Stidham has barely seen the field over the last 2 years. He has taken only 18 snaps and has not thrown a single pass. Still, his value goes beyond game action.
He has become a trusted voice in the quarterback room. Coaches and teammates speak highly of his preparation. He spends hours in film sessions. He helps younger players understand what to look for. That presence has mattered.
Stidham and Nix are close. Their relationship is strong. Stidham has fully embraced being a mentor. He has said his job is to help Nix succeed in any way possible.
If Stidham is ever forced into action, he brings a few positives. He throws a clean ball. He can move well for his size. He understands the system. His weakness is pressure. Blitzes have caused problems for him in the past. Still, he is viewed as reliable enough in short stretches.
Denver clearly trusts him. During the 2025 offseason, the team gave him a 2 year, $12 million extension. That does not happen by accident.
The third quarterback is Sam Ehlinger. He once started games for the Colts in 2022. That came when Matt Ryan struggled late in his career. Ehlinger has not thrown a pass since 2023. He was added back to the active roster in early January.
The depth chart is simple. Bo Nix is the clear starter. Jarrett Stidham is the steady backup. Sam Ehlinger fills out the room.
Unless something drastic happens, Nix will be under center in Denver for a long time. The Broncos finally have their answer.
