IND vs ENG: Shubhman Gill can outplay Rishabh Pant believes Dominic Cork

Indian young opener Shubhman Gill performed exceptionally good against Australia in the recent series. He helped his team to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by playing an astonishing inning of 91 runs on the last day of the Gabba Test.

He was also the second-highest scorer against Australia after Rishabh Pant. He will be looking forward to carrying his form in the upcoming series against England scheduled to start from 5 February.

The former England seamer Dominic Cork was asked to choose the player that can perform better in the upcoming series and can outplay every other player. The seamer responded that he would opt for the young opener Shubhman Gill as one of the two players who could emerge as the ‘brightest star’ of the series.

“In my opinion, when you are going to see who is going to succeed and be the brightest star in this series on both sides, I will probably go with the younger aspect of it, something I have always done while working in the IPL. When you look at the younger players on the Indian side, Scott Styris has been banging the drum about Shubhman Gillbut what a performance against Australia. He is obviously a talented cricketer,” said Dominic Cork.

Cork believes that Gill will outshine Rishabh Pant and also England’s bowler will find it difficult to get him out. He also applauded Rishabh Pant for his inning in the final Test at Gabba.

“So, I am going to pick him even though Rishabh Pant has got a major role to play in the series, especially with that superb inning in the last Test match to win the series against Australia. But for me, I am just going to go the way Scott Styris would want everybody to go, with Shubhman Gill because he is such a superb young player and England will find it tough to get him out,” added Cork.
