Amidst the surging numbers of the COVID-19 infections, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has tested positive for the infection. The minister announced the news on Twitter on Saturday.

In the tweet he said, “My dear countrymen, I had symptoms of COVID-19 and after the test, my report has come back positive. I appeal to all my colleagues that whoever has come in contact with me, to get their test done. And my close contact should go into quarantine”.

The minister also urged the citizens of the country to abide by the regulations and operating procedures set to tackle the outbreak. He assured that he himself would be abiding by all the procedures and would be taking utmost caution so that it doesn’t spread further, now that he knows.

In the series of tweets that he has posted on twitter, he has also stated that he has been monitoring the health situation since March 25, which included a daily reporting of the number of cases in the state. He assured that he will continue to do so and would connect with the authorities of the state via video-conferencing.

He also said that the meetings will be held by the Home Minister Narottam Mishra, Urban Development and administration minister Bhuppendra Singh, Heath Education minister Vishvas Sarang and Health Minister Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary. He also stated that he will be joining these meetings via video conferencing and would contribute as much as he can during the course of his recovery.
