Anushka Sharma has recently produced a movie on an OTT platform titled “Paatal Lok”. Ever since Paatal Lok has premiered on Amazon Prime from May 15, it has been embroiled in a huge controversy. It has majorly created a ruckus over a few scenes that hurt the Hindu religious sentiments as well. Despite facing severe backlash, the show is being applauded by critics, celebrities and other half of the Twitterverse. However, the wrath of social media has aggravated so much so that netizens have made a hashtag #BoycottPaatalLok trend on Twitter.
Hordes of netizens expressed their hatred towards the web show. Moreover, they feel that the web series must be banned as it has allegedly hurt Hindu sentiments by showing a beef-eating scene.
A user wrote, “Its utterly infuriating!!! How can a production house denigrate Hinduism? How does it go unnoticed? Is there no system to contain this in the largest democratic country on earth? Hindus, raise your voice against it unitedly !#boycottpaatallok #CensorWebSeries @CBFC_India” “In Paatal Lok, most of the characters have showcased grey shades to their personalities except one Muslim policeman who’s an IAS aspirant & is consistently remarked for his religious beliefs. He’s shown as a victim of the religious biases #BoycottPaatalLok #CensorWebSeries,”.
While another user commented in anger, “Netizens have slammed @AnushkaSharma and the series for showing anti-Hindu culture and glorifying beef-eating in few scenes. People called out the narrative of the show and trended #BanPaatalLok #PaatalLok on Twitter. #BoycottPaatalLok #CensorWebSeries”
