Bastar: The Naxal Story on OTT: Release date, plot cast and everything else you need to know

Sudipto Sen wrote and directed the 2024 film, starring Adah Sharma, Amarnath Jha and Vipul Amrutlal Shah.

Adah Sharma plays the lead in the film Bastar: The Naxal Story. The film was released in theatres on March 15, 2024, and received mixed reviews from audiences and reviewers.

Sunshine Pictures, the production firm, published the clip on X with the caption, “A sincere officer and an even badass fighter.” Naxalwaad ko jadd se mitane aa rahi hai, Neerja Madhavan. #Bastar premieres on May 17th, exclusively on #ZEE5. Available in both Hindi and Telugu.

In another post, the filmmakers said, “The harsh reality of Naxalism in our country. Watch the gruesome story of Naxal violence. After a theatrical run, the film will release on OTT in May 2024.”

ZEE5 has already purchased the streaming rights to the film, which will be released on May 17, 2024. The film will be available in both Hindi and Telugu languages.

The film is set in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh and centres around the region’s ongoing Naxalite insurgency. Adah Sharma plays an IPS officer who seeks to counter terrorism.

In the video, Adah claims that India has lost 2838 soldiers in the overall war with Pakistan, while the Naxals have killed over 15000 Indian soldiers within its borders. The film is around her fight against the Naxalites.

Adah Sharma plays Neerja Madhavan, Vijay Krishna plays Lanka Reddy, Indira Tiwari plays Ratna, Subrat Dutta plays Millind Kashyap, Yashpal Sharma plays Utpal Trivedi, Raima Sen plays Vanya Roy, Anangsha Biswas plays Lakshmi, Sanjay Borkar plays a gynaecologist, Atharva Sawant plays Saryu, and Naman Jain plays Raman, among others.

The film is directed by Sudipto Sen, who earlier directed The Kerala Story. Bastar: The Naxal Story was written by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Amarnath Jha, and Sudipto Sen. Vipul Amrutlal Shah produces it under the banner Sunshine Pictures. The film was made with a budget of Rs 15 crore and grossed Rs 1.79 crore at the box office.
