Snapchat to release an out of the box feature called ‘Friend Check-up’

Snapchat today said that it will be launching a new feature called the ‘Friend Check-Up.’ On Snapchat, when you have friended someone, they can access your story (posts) and even your location, depending on your Snap Map settings.

Snapchat is releasing this feature so that people can easily review their friend list and check if there is someone friended with them on Snapchat who is not you actually not a friend. This way a user could realize if they have friended someone who they don’t want to see their posts.

The company, in an official statement, described it as a way to, “make sure it’s made up of people they still want to be connected to.”

“Friend Check-Up will serve to remind Snapchatters that over time they may have added someone to their friends’ list who they may no longer want to be in touch with on our app. With a quick, private, convenient process, Friend Check-Up enables Snapchatters to clean up their lists and comfortably remove those who don’t need to be there or may have been added as a mistake,” it added.

This new feature is attributed to Snapchat’s recently launched campaign which was declared on Global Privacy Day which aims to further integrate online safety and privacy education in Snapchat.

The feature is expected to be available on Android devices in a few weeks, while iOS users may have to wait a few months.
