IPL 2024: Will KKR vs MI be the first draw of the season? Weather forecast predicts heavy rain

The dominant Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens, but the week has started with heavy rain. With the game just three days away, will Hardik Pandya and his team face another setback in IPL 2024?

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders are at the top of the table, but the playoff competition is very tight, and a single point could allow another team to advance if luck turns against KKR.

Let’s check the weather forecast for May 11 – KKR vs MI –

This week, Kolkata is expected to experience varying pre-monsoon showers, complete with severe lightning and strong thunder accompanied by gusty winds, as reported by Skymet Weather.

The city recently witnessed significant rainfall, with Alipore recording 71mm and Dum Dum 49mm. These showers have brought relief from the extreme heatwave conditions that peaked at 43°C on April 30th, cooling the city to around 35°C.

Recent weather changes have been influenced by a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and Odisha and anticyclonic winds from the Bay of Bengal, which have enhanced moisture levels.

Temperatures this week will generally stay in the low to mid-30s but are expected to climb towards the high 30s next week, potentially surpassing 40°C.

Given the predictions of heavy thunderstorms, the match between KKR and MI is unlikely to proceed.

Additionally, KKR players spent the night in Varanasi after their flight to Kolkata was diverted multiple times on May 6, Monday. Due to thunderstorms in Kolkata, KKR was unable to land in the city until 3 AM on May 7, forcing them to spend the night elsewhere.
