Dinesh Karthik thanks MS Dhoni for RCB’s win: Know Why

Royal Challengers Bengaluru found themselves in a sticky situation during their recent IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings, all thanks to a soggy outfield affecting the condition of the ball. The RCB bowlers struggled to maintain their grip, leading to several no-balls and free hits for CSK.

Despite Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli’s repeated requests to change the ball, the umpires initially declined. It was only after MS Dhoni’s colossal six, soaring over 110 meters and landing outside the stadium, that the officials relented and replaced the ball.

This ball switch worked in RCB’s favor, as they managed to dismiss Dhoni shortly after. However, despite their efforts, CSK fell short of the target of 201 runs needed to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Interestingly, even if CSK had lost the match, they would have still qualified due to their superior position in the points table. However, their actual target was set at 219 runs, although they failed to reach this mark.

Dinesh Karthik, acknowledging Dhoni’s impactful shot, credited the long six for RCB’s victory, stating that it provided them with a new ball that ultimately helped them clinch the game.
