Arsenal’s reported interest in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has been firmly dismissed, putting an end to one of the most talked-about transfer rumours ahead of the summer window.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Tonali’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, has categorically denied any discussions with the Gunners. According to Riso, there has been no contact with Arsenal at any stage, and Newcastle have never considered allowing the Italian midfielder to leave in January.
“We never had any conversation with Arsenal and Newcastle were never going to let Tonali leave in January. There’s nothing in it at all,” Riso stated, calling the speculation a “nonsense topic.” He further added that Tonali remains fully focused on Newcastle’s current campaign and is committed to helping the Magpies achieve their objectives this season.
The rumours had gained traction after reports suggested Arsenal were monitoring midfield reinforcements amid injuries and squad rotation concerns. Tonali’s name naturally emerged due to his pedigree from AC Milan and his growing influence in Eddie Howe’s side. However, the agent’s comments make it clear that a move to the Emirates is not on the agenda anytime soon.
