Jayant Baliga, product manager at Google Maps revealed in a blog post that:
- As of now, Google has integrated 700 testing labs on Search, Assistant and Maps across more than 300 cities.
- The results will be available in English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam. Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati.
- Any search made regarding Coronavirus will feature a dedicated tab for testing and nearby testing labs along with necessary information and guidance on the page.
- On Maps, results related to “coronavirus testing” or “COVID-19 testing” shows a list of nearby testing labs with links to Google Search.
- Google urges users to check the testing eligibility before visiting any centre.
- It can be accessed with “Learn More” links that lead to authentic information from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
- Requirements mandated by the government include prescription from the doctor, calling national or state helpline before going for the test and testing restrictions.
Google said, “While this experience is designed to help people find authorized testing centres near them, it’s important to follow the recommended guidelines that help determine testing eligibility before visiting.”
