Clinical studies of the world’s first coronavirus vaccine on people at Sechenov First State Medical University in Moscow have been conducted successfully.
World’s first coronavirus vaccine
The vaccination suits the efficacy when clinical trials done on human. Vaccine testing of COVID-19 has shown that volunteers are developing immunities to coronavirus.
The Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology has established two types of possible COVID-19 vaccine. In Burdenko Military Hospital the first vaccine developed administered in the shape of an intramuscular solution. At Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, a further vaccine was conducted as a powder to create a formulation for intramuscular administration. Both volunteer groups of clinical trials will be released shortly. In two-three days, the first group is allowed to leave and the second group is released on 20 July, reports said.
A group composed of 18 participants was included in the first stage of vaccine study at Sechenov University and 20 participated in the second phase. This was planned that both participants will remain in a hospital for 28 days following vaccination. While the Russian vaccine passed the first step of clinical testing, it still has a long way to go until it can be accepted as a proven COVID-19 vaccine.
Creation of a virus or bacteria vaccine requires multiple testing stages in both livestock and humans. Therefore, it takes at least 10-12 months on average to make a vaccine accessible to the general population since it is produced in a laboratory. Success of vaccine developed at Sechenov First State Medical University only means phase 1 of a total of three phases of clinical trials was cleared.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s draft landscape of COVID-19 candidate vaccines, the clinical trials have only reached Phase 3 with two vaccines — one produced by the Sinovac Chinese company and one from the Oxford University / AstraZeneca University. There are now clinical trials with at least 21 COVID-19 vaccines, plus 139 other candidates for vaccines under pre-clinical assessment.
Ultimately, COVID-19 cases reported is about 1.3 crores and over 7 million patients with viruses have healed, scientists and other healthcare facilities across the globe are attempting as early as possible to improve COVID-19 vaccines.
