On Friday, April 9, Uttarakhand Cabinet made decisions regarding the night curfew and conduction of classes in Schools.
District Magistrate (DM) of Dehradun, Dr. Ashish Srivastava said, “Night curfew will be implemented from tomorrow following the Cabinet order.” Before this, Uttarakhand state government spokesperson said in a statement, “Uttarakhand Cabinet in its meeting today has decided to impose night curfew in Dehradun municipal limits between 10 pm to 5 am,” quotes ANI.

Uttarakhand cabinet in its meeting, also decided to shut down the School for all classes (1 to 12) till April 30, amid surge in COVID-19 cases.
Moreover, decision made by Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to elevate Gairsain to a commissionerate has been suspended by the state cabinet.
Former CM said that, “The decision to elevate Gairsain as the third commissionerate of Uttarakhand was taken after detailed and long discussion with people who matter. It was for the betterment of the summer capital and realization of long pending dreams of people of the hills of Uttarakhand who sacrificed for the statehood.”

Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are among the states who have already announced weekend lockdowns. Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka have already imposed night curfews in major cities. Several other states/UTs have announced more stringent Covid-19 restrictions in order to contain the spread of the second wave of COVID-19.
The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 9.40 Crore on 8th April, 2021. A total of 9,40,96,689 vaccine doses have been given, as per the provisional report till 8 pm today.
India recorded over 1.31 lakh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, with Maharashtra reporting 56,286 cases, Chhattisgarh 10,662 cases, Uttar Pradesh 8,490, Delhi 7,437 cases and Karnataka 6,570 cases in last 24 hours.
