As the second wave of the Coronavirus has taken hold, it is being observed that the migrant workers have again started rushing to their hometowns.

After the night curfew has been imposed in the national capital, they are quite spooked by the chances that the capital might go for a complete lockdown again. They have the fear that they will get stuck without any employment during the lockdown period. Migrant workers were seen at the Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi from where they were moving back to their native towns.

Several migrants in Delhi and Mumbai were seen leaving the cities and heading to their hometowns or villages. More than the fear of the virus, they are afraid that if lockdown gets imposed again, they won’t be able to earn their living.

“Had got stuck here during the lockdown, want to avoid any such situation again. It’s better to go home for now,” said a migrant worker from Bihar, as quoted by ANI.

Well, the situation has arisen after the Delhi government imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am keeping in view the sky-touching rates of the Covid cases.

In addition to this, several states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh have announced a slew of restrictions which include weekend lockdowns as well as night curfew.

Well, last year, thousands of migrant workers were seen heading to their hometowns walking on foot, or traveling by cycle as they were running out of money and food.
