On July 11, the government of Uttar Pradesh announced the revised timings of night curfews as the state records a decrease in new COVID-19 cases.
As per the latest orders, in cities like Lucknow, Noida, and Ghaziabad, a night curfew will be imposed from 10 pm to 6 am. Before the relaxations, the timings of night curfew were 9 pm to 7 am.
According to officials, Section 144 has been extended by the Yogi Adityanath government in Noida till August 30 as major festivals such as Shivratri, Bakri Eid, Shravan, Independence Day, Muharram, Raksha Bandhan, and Janmashtami will be celebrated in the months of July and August.
However, a weekend curfew will continue to remain applicable on Saturday and Sunday.
Navneet Sehgal, the Additional Chief Secretary (Information) stated that the night curfew has been further relaxed since the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Uttar Pradesh has improved. He continued saying that the state’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had pointed out the necessity of continued testing, tracking, treatment with no laxity.
On Saturday, the state registered 100 new cases of COVID-19 along with 4 fatalities. As of yet, a total of 17,07,225 coronavirus infections as well as 22,693 deaths have been recorded in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, India reported 41,506 new COVID-19 cases while 895 people lost their lives to the virus. The rate of recovery has now jumped to 97.20 percent.
