
India reported 36,401 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 3,23,22,258. The country also reported 530 deaths, taking the death toll to 4,33,049, according to official data released by the Union health ministry.
According to the data, India’s active caseload stands at 3,64,129, the lowest in 149 days. At present, active cases form only 1.13% of the country’s total positive cases which is the lowest since March 2020. The recovery rate is at 97.53%, the highest since March 2020.
The ministry said that 18,73,757 tests were conducted on Wednesday, taking the total tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 50,03,00,840. The daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.94%. Test positivity rate has been less than 3% for the last 24 days.
According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate has been recorded as 1.95%, which has been less than 3 per cent for the last 55 days.
India has administered 56.64 crore vaccine doses in total under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. On Wednesday alone, 56,36,336 vaccine doses were administered. According to MoneyControl, India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7 last year 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. India crossed two crore cases on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
