The COVID-19 pandemic grew in India by the highest number when 8,392 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country crossed the 190,000 mark. Maharashtra added over 2,000 new cases while Delhi saw the biggest COVID-19 spike in its count.
In the last 24 hours, Indian states recorded 230 new deaths from the Coronavirus infection.
Till date, Coronavirus has claimed over 5,394 lives in India.
The mortality rate stands at 2.8%, one of the lowest across the world.
According to the data released by John Hopkins University, India overtook France and became the seventh worst-affected country by the coronavirus infection across the globe.
Maharashtra took its Coronavirus tally to 67,655 by adding 2,487 new cases on Sunday. The state has also recorded the highest number of deaths in the country. Maharashtra’s death toll stands at 2,286.
Delhi saw the highest spike in its number of cases as 1,295 new positive cases were reported on Sunday.
The state has recorded 19,844 cases till date.
On a brighter note, over 90,000 people have recovered from the infection. Over 4,500 people recovered on Sunday. Around 49% of the positive cases have been cured so far.
