A total number of 18,522 new positive cases in the last 24 hours took India’s Coronavirus tally to 5,66,840. This is the second day straight the decline in the total number of cases in a single day is seen. On Sunday, the states reported 19,906 fresh cases and on Monday 19,459 cases, as per the data released by the health ministry.

On a brighter side, the recovery rate has improved to 59.06%. Over 3,34,821 patients have recovered, while the active number of cases stands at 2,15,125. In the last 24 hours, 13,099 recovered from the Coronavirus infection. Currently, the gap between active cases and recovered patients stands at 1.19 lakh.

As the country heads towards Unlock 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address the nation at 4 pm later today. Guidelines have been issued by the Home Minister to ease the restrictions imposed due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

The country’s first indigenous COVID vaccine COVAXIN has got the nod for human clinical trials from the Drug Controller General of India. The vaccine has been developed by Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and NIV (National Institute of Virology).
