According to a media bulletin published by Maharashtra’s Public Health Department, the state of Maharashtra has recorded new 8,296 COVID-19 cases and 179 deaths on July 10. Over 6,000 people have recovered from the infection. The recovery and fatality rates in Maharashtra are 96.05 percent and 2.04 percent respectively.
Until today, 61,49,264 laboratory samples of 4,38,00,139 i.e. 14.04 percent have been tested positive for the virus. Presently, 5,85,580 individuals are quarantined at their homes while 4,737 people are in institutional quarantine.
The state has witnessed a drop of new COVID-19 cases in comparison to almost 9,000 infections the previous day. In total, as of now, Maharashtra has registered 61,49,264 cases and total recoveries have surged to 59,06,466.
Due to the decrease of daily coronavirus cases in the state, Maharashtra is set to reopen schools in areas where zero fresh COVID-19 cases have been registered in over a month. Offline classes for students of Classes 8 to 12 will begin from 15th July, as per Varsha Gaikwad, the Minister of School Education Department.
On July 9, the state had inoculated 1,97,208 people through 1,368 centers. As per data released by the government, as of 7 am on 10th July, it had vaccinated 3,59,75,367 individuals.
In addition, a total of 81,55,888 people between 18 to 44 years of age have received COVID-19 vaccine doses ever since the vaccination drive began for the 18-plus age group on 1st May.
