On Sunday, India reported 9,971 fresh Coronavirus cases and 287 deaths, another biggest spike in the last 24 hours.
The COVID-19 cases in India have been increasing rapidly. From nearly 8,000 fresh cases a day, the nationwide tally has now increased to 10,000 cases a day. It took just five days for the total number of cases to reach from 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh.
According to America’s Johns Hopkins University, India with a tally of 246,628 infections is now the fifth worst-affected country across the globe after the United States, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom.
The places of worship, malls and restaurants are scheduled to open on Monday. It is the first of the three-phase plan to reopen prohibited places in non-containment zones.
India’s recovery rate stands at 48%. A total of 1,19,292 patients have recovered so far and the number of active cases stands at 1,20,406.
Maharashtra registered 3,007 new cases on Sunday taking the state’s toll to 85,975. The state alone has overtaken China which accounted for 83,036 infections.
Mumbai’s Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum and a Coronavirus hotspot has not reported a single death in the last 6 days while 939 of the total 1,899 patients have recovered so far.
