India crossed the 6 lakh mark as the states reported 19,148 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. 434 patients succumbed to the Coronavirus infection taking the death toll to 17,834. As per the numbers released by the health ministry, the active cases stand at 2,26,947 while the recovered patient’s count has reached 3,59,859.

Currently, India’s recovery rate stands at 59.51%. The gap between the active cases and the recovered patients has widened to 1.32 lakh.

As of July 1, over 90.5 lakh samples have been tested for the Coronavirus infection across the nation. In the last 24 hours, over 2.2 lakh samples were tested.

-Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in India followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
-Maharashtra has reported over 1,80,298 Coronavirus cases, Tamil Nadu has reported 94,049 cases and Delhi 89,902.

-The highest number of deaths are also recorded by Maharashtra (8,053), followed by Delhi (2,803), Gujarat (1,867) and Tamil Nadu (1,264).

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and reviewed India’s preparation for vaccinating the populating once a vaccine would be available.

He tweeted, “An important subject that was discussed was the creation of a tech platform that would complement vaccination at scale across the nation.”

The World Health Organisation has warned that some countries still face a long battle. Without singling out any nations, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “Some countries … have taken a fragmented approach. These countries face a long, hard road ahead.”
