On Friday, barely two weeks after the national lockdown was lifted off, India reported a total COVID-19 tally of over 3 lakh cases. In the last 24 hours, the country recorded over 10,000 fresh Coronavirus cases taking the tally to 3,01,579, as per the data from Worldometer.
India now ranks fourth in the list of nations worst affected by the Coronavirus infection, preceded by Russia, Brazil and the United States. Russia currently has about 5 lakh cases and Brazil has nearly 7.72 lakh cases. The United States remains the worst-hit country across the globe with over 20 lakh Coronavirus cases.
Maharashtra has the highest number of Coronavirus cases with 1,01,141 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 40,698 cases and Delhi with 34,687 cases.
-Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in the country and accounts for about one-third of the total cases.
-In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 3,493 fresh cases taking the state’s toll to over 1 lakh cases.
For the first time since the Coronavirus outbreak, India on Friday recorded over 10,000 positive cases and 396 deaths on a single day. The Centre advised all states to pay special attention to the hotspots and undertake all steps to curb the spread.
The doubling rate of Coronavirus cases in India has improved to 17.4 days currently to 15.4 days a few weeks ago, said the Union Health Ministry.
