According to the Union Health Ministry this morning, India reported over 19,000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The nation’s tally has increased to 5,48,318 and the death toll has risen to 16,475.
The number of active cases stands at 2,10,120 while over 3,21,722 patients have been cured or recovered from the Coronavirus infection. The recovery rate has increased to 58.67%.

In the last 24 hours, the states reported 19,459 cases and 380 patients succumbed to the infection. On a brighter side, a total of 12,010 Coronavirus patients recovered in a single day.

Till date, about 84 lakh samples have been tested for the Coronavirus infection, according to the medical research body ICMR. Considering the high surge in the number of patients, a decision has been made to initiate a programme of clinical trials for rapid antigen detection for Coronavirus patients.

In a statement made on Sunday, the government said, “The COVID related health infrastructure has been strengthened with the availability of 1055 dedicated COVID Hospitals with 1,77,529 isolation beds, 23,168 ICU beds and 78,060 oxygen supported beds; 2,400 dedicated COVID Health Centres with 1,40,099 Isolation beds, 11,508 ICU beds and 51,371 oxygen supported beds have also been operationalised.”
