The Assam government has outlawed victory rallies that were supposed to take place across the state on the counting day, the 2nd of May.
Additionally, the government has put an extension to the night curfews in the state till the 7th of May, 2021.
The decision has been acknowledged keeping in view the rocketing cases of Covid-19 persistently. Well, in this regard, the state government has issued two notifications separately.
“Any victory procession or assembly at any public place during and after the counting on 2.05.2021 is prohibited.”
The notification also specifies that the winning candidate has to be accompanied by only 2 persons, the firing of crackers is restricted and it is mandatory to put masks on.
Although, in Assam, the daily spike has reached the 3000-mark. The night curfew was supposed to terminate on Saturday but now has been given an extension.
All shops have to remain closed during the curfew though it shuns the essential services such as pharmacies from the order.
Furthermore, services like public transport, electricity, water, and sanitation will continue functioning during the night curfew.
The number of cases reported in Assam on Friday was 3,197 which pushed the total mark to 2,53,123. Also, there were 26 deaths reported on Friday, which is the highest figure till date, as per the sources of the Assam government.
In addition to this, the total number of cases in the country stands at 19.2 million along with 4,01,993 cases reported on Friday.
In order o take a grip over the untrammeled cases in the country, the government came up with a policy of ‘Liberalized & Accelerated’ vaccination’, that allows people who’re above 18 to get vaccinated.
