Global Health Limited (Medanta), one of India’s leading healthcare providers, has announced plans to expand its footprint in Ranchi by adding a newly built 110-bed hospital under a lease agreement with SAC Hospital Management and Consultancy Service Private Limited. The new facility is expected to be operational within six months, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
Capacity expansion and investment details
Medanta currently operates with a total capacity of over 3,000 beds, with a consolidated capacity utilization of 64% for Q3 FY25. The upcoming hospital, strategically located just 1.2 km from Medanta Ranchi, is expected to enhance tertiary and quaternary care services in the region.
The company will invest up to ₹50 crore in medical and other equipment for the facility, which will be funded through internal accruals. The new hospital will focus on high-end specialty care, filling a critical gap in Ranchi’s healthcare infrastructure.
Lease agreement
Under the lease agreement, SAC Hospital Management and Consultancy Service Private Limited will provide the land and hospital building, while Medanta will handle the investment, operations, and management. The lease will be for an initial period of 15 years, with an option for two extensions of 15 years each, at Medanta’s discretion.
The arrangement is a non-related party transaction, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulatory norms. The lease terms grant Medanta full control over the hospital’s day-to-day operations, allowing for seamless integration with its existing Ranchi facility.
With this expansion, Medanta aims to strengthen its presence in the Eastern region of India while offering advanced medical care. The new facility will focus on high-end tertiary care services, addressing an unmet demand in the area.
