Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with the Uzbek defence minister Lt. General Bakhodir Kurbanov in Tashkent today on 23rd August.
He tweeted,” Had an excellent meeting with Defence Minister of Uzbekistan, Lt Gen Bakhodir Kurbanov in Tashkent. During our talks, we reviewed the India-Uzbekistan defence relationship. Our cooperation is based on a solid foundation & it’ll continue to grow over the coming decades”.

Their main focus in today’s discussions was counter-terrorism and cooperation between the two countries armed forces.
This was during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Defence Minister’s meeting which was also attended by Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe and Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
There is no clarity on whether Singh will be meeting the Russian defence minister.
He has also planned interaction with the Indian community present in Uzbekistan.
