Gold prices in India remained largely steady across key cities on Thursday, January 8, with only marginal variations reflecting local taxes and logistics. 24-carat gold was mostly quoted around Rs 13,800 per gram, while 22-carat gold hovered near Rs 12,650 per gram and 18-carat gold around Rs 10,350 per gram in most metros.
In Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune, gold prices were uniform at Rs 13,800 per gram for 24K, Rs 12,650 for 22K, and Rs 10,350 for 18K gold.
Delhi saw slightly higher rates, with 24K gold priced at Rs 13,815 per gram, 22K at Rs 12,665, and 18K at Rs 10,365.
In Chennai, gold traded at a premium, with 24K gold at Rs 13,909 per gram, 22K at Rs 12,750, and 18K at Rs 10,640.
Meanwhile, Vadodara and Ahmedabad recorded 24K gold at Rs 13,805 per gram, 22K at Rs 12,655, and 18K at Rs 10,355.
Overall, gold prices showed minor regional differences, while broader rates tracked subdued global bullion trends and profit-booking after recent highs. Local jewellers note that final prices may vary depending on GST, TCS, and making charges.
