IndiGo airlines on Thursday announced that the airline will recommence flights to United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 20.
The airline said in a statement, “IndiGo will recommence flight operations between India and the UAE from 01.30 IST (2000 UTC) tonight. We have informed all our passengers and any inconvenience caused is regretted.”
UAE had earlier announced that all IndiGo flights will be suspended till August 24. The flights were banned on Tuesday as many passengers failed to take the mandatory RT-PCR test at the departure airport.
IndiGo confirmed the development saying the flights were cancelled due to operational issues. “We have informed all our passengers and will support them with refunds or accommodation in other flights once we resume operations,” the airline said in a statement.
As reported by Business Standard, the new health requirement that came into effect on August 5 states that passengers should undergo an RT-PCR test within 48 hours before departure and another rapid-PCR test at the airport a few hours before the flight.
Passengers also need an approval letter from UAE authorities for travel. Airline check-in staff at the airport are required to check the test reports before accepting passengers.
